Viewing MDM Logs

This topic describes the procedure for viewing MDM logs.

MDM facilitates monitoring of critical processes that are associated with it and facilitates to view logs enabling to take corrective and preventive actions. As an MDM user, you can monitor the logs of the following activities:

• Bulk Operations
• Synchronization
• Publishing

1. On CUSP > My Applications, click (MDM Data Steward Cockpit). The MDM Data Steward Cockpit window appears with a list of published MDM models.
2. You can view mdm logs in any one of the following ways:
   • Click the published MDM model, and click (View Logs) from the tool bar.
   • Right-click the MDM model and select View Logs. You can do the following in the Log Viewer - MDM Model window that appears:

     Operation	Description
     Bulk Operations	You can select the following filters: Subscription Details - Select the subscription from the Subscription drop down list. If no subscription is selected from the drop down list, all the subscriptions from the spoke to the hub are selected. Status - Select the status of the operation. You can select All or Specific. When you select All, all logs are displayed irrespective of the status of the operation. When you select Specific, it is further divided into Completed, Done with errors, Stopped, and Started. You can select one or more types of status. Time - Select the time of the operation.You can select All, Display for the last or Between . When you select All , all logs are displayed irrespective of the time of the operation . When you select Display for the last , you have option to view logs from a time period of a specific length that moves continuously, which can be year, month, week or day . When you select Between , you have option to view logs for the range falling within the specified From and To dates.
     Synchronization	You can select the following filters: Subscriptions - Select the subscription from the Subscription drop down list. If no subscription is selected from the drop down list, all the subscriptions from the spoke to the hub are selected. Operation Name - Select the type of operation that was performed on the database. You can select All or Specific. When you select All, all logs are displayed irrespective of the type of operation performed. When you select Specific, it is further divided into Insert, Update, and Delete. You can select one or more types of operation. Status - Select the status of the operation. You can select All or Specific. When you select All, all logs are displayed irrespective of the status of the operation. When you select Specific, it is further divided into Completed, Failed, and Pending. You can select one or more types of status. Time - Select the time of the operation.You can select All, Display for the last or Between . When you select All , all logs are displayed irrespective of the time of the operation . When you select Display for the last , you have option to view logs from a time period of a specific length that moves continuously, which can be year, month, week or day . When you select Between , you have option to view logs for the range falling within the specified From and To dates.
     Publishing	Status - Specify the status of the operation. You can select All or Specific. When you select All, all logs are displayed irrespective of the status of the operation. When you select Specific, it is further divided into Completed, Stopped, and Started. You can select one or more types of status. Time - Select the time of the operation.You can select All, Display for the last or Between. When you select All, all logs are displayed irrespective of the time of the operation . When you select Display for the last, you have option to view logs from a time period of a specific length that moves continuously, which can be year, month, week or day . When you select Between, you have option to view logs for the range falling within the specified From and To dates.

3. Click Get Logs to view the logs. In the right pane, logs window opens with Process ID, Status, Start Time, and End Time.
   The tool bar has following options on the logs window.

   Icons	Options	Description
   	Delete	The selected logs will be deleted.
   	Purge	All logs will get deleted.
   	Refresh	The latest changes get reflected in the UI.
   	Show/Hide Filters	Log Filters pane will be shown or hide.

   Note: Click Reset to clear the selections made in the previous step.

If more than one type of log is selected, the logs are displayed in tabs. Double-click a log to view its details in the More Details - <Type of log> App Palette .
